On Friday, 7/21/23, I was at the Jr Boy’s World Series as the games were called because of a lighting delay. The sky started to light up with lighting. Here are a couple of pictures taken as the storm was approaching. Lighting is dangerous and if you try to photograph, do it with care.

The first picture is as the lighting is coming down and second picture is when the lighting highs the ground.

Here are a few tips to get you started but always remember, safety first.

  • Set up the camera on a tripod.
  • Focus the camera lens on infinity.
  • Set the aperture of the lens to a medium value, such as f5.6 or f8. …
  • Use a low ISO setting. …
  • Set the shutter speed to between 5 and 20 seconds, if possible.

There is a device that can also be used to help in your photograph. Check out some of the sites for a Camera Trigger for Photographing Lightning Bolts.

These pictures were not done with a trigger but used some of the above setting and used my instincts.
